As the air gets crisper and the days get shorter, it’s time to start embracing the cozy comforts of November. This month is about slowing down, taking stock, and being thoughtful about spending time. Whether you’re looking to hunker down with a good book, whip up some delicious comfort food, or connect with loved ones, there’s something for everyone on this month’s must-do list.
Embracing the Hygge Lifestyle
One of the best ways to get into the cozy spirit of November is to embrace all things hygge. This Danish concept of coziness and contentment is about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and connection, and this might include lighting candles, using comfortable blankets and pillows, and decorating your home with natural materials like wood and wool. Hygge enthusiasts also enjoy spending time with loved ones, enjoying warm drinks like tea or hot cocoa, and indulging in comfort foods like baked goods and hearty soups.
I’ve been embracing Hygge for a long time, and this fall is more special than previous years because we have a new house, so all I can think of is making things for the kitchen. I’ve been practicing my crocheting skills each evening, making many beanie hats using natural fibers and stitching in the round repeatedly—the most challenging part was learning to make a magic circle! My goal is to crochet placemats and coasters to protect all of our tables. I also started taking pottery classes at my local museum, Maitland Art Center, and I love it; I cannot wait to share some of the homewares I’m making. If the pieces turn out well, I might list them in the shop, so stay tuned!
November's bucket list
Another essential aspect of November is taking the time to reflect and give thanks. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, now is the perfect time to express gratitude for the people and things that improve our lives. Whether you write a heartfelt card to a loved one or take a few minutes each day to reflect on your blessings, cultivating a spirit of thankfulness is a great way to boost your mood and improve your overall well-being.
So whether you’re looking to get cozy, practice gratitude, or enjoy the simple pleasures of the season, there’s plenty to do this November. To help you get motivated, here are a few ideas for you:
- Try a new recipe—we’ve put together a list of easy appetizers that you must try!
- Learn a new craft; check out your local museums and libraries for classes and workshops! If you live in Central Florida, make sure to check out the Maitland Art Center, the Orange County Public Library, and Crealde School of Art.
- The holidays can be a stressful time, so it’s important to make time for yourself and your well-being. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and exercise regularly. And don’t forget to schedule some time for relaxation and self-care, whether it’s taking a long bath, taking care of your skin, reading a good book, or simply spending some time in nature.
- With our free journaling template and gratitude cards, you can easily make gratitude a part of your routine. Simply write down a few things you’re grateful for each day, and take a moment to reflect on why they’re important to you.
By taking some time each day to focus on the good things in your life, you can boost your mood, reduce stress, and improve your overall well-being. So make gratitude a priority this November and see what a difference it makes in your life.
